The VFFOTO hybrid WHITE MIST NANO-PRO 1/2 creates a pronounced diffusion effect with a strong milky veil. Compared with the 1/4 version, it scatters bright highlights more strongly, reduces contrast more noticeably and gives the image a soft, ethereal character. It is ideal for creative portraits, video, backlighting, city scenes and night photography where the filter effect is intended to be a clearly visible part of the final image.

Difference between filter types

White Mist or Black Mist?

Both filters soften highlights, but the resulting character is different. Compare White Mist and Black Mist at the same strength of 1/8, 1/4 or 1/2.

BLACK MIST 1/2 WHITE MIST 1/2

At the 1/2 strength, the difference is pronounced: Black Mist creates a strong halo and retains dark areas more effectively, while White Mist creates a more pronounced milky veil.

Choosing the strength

White Mist 1/2 is the strong option.

The 1/2 strength provides a strong diffusion effect, a pronounced milky veil and a noticeable reduction in overall contrast. Compared with the 1/4 version, it is more intense and is best suited to creative portraits, stylised video, backlighting and atmospheric night scenes.

It gently softens highlights, creates only a light whitish veil and reduces microcontrast only minimally.

Balanced effect

The filter changes the character of the image as you shoot or film. The 1/2 strength creates a noticeable effect whose intensity also varies with scene contrast and the presence of prominent light sources. It is most pronounced when shooting into the light and during night photography.

VFFOTO hybrid system

A screw-in and magnetic filter in one.

The filter can be screwed directly into the lens thread or attached magnetically to an adapter or another compatible VFFOTO filter.

The front magnetic surface allows another VFFOTO hybrid or magnetic filter of the same diameter to be attached. White Mist can be combined with a CPL, ND or variable ND filter, for example. When stacking several filters, always check wide-angle lenses for vignetting.

Compatibility

Hybrid White Mist filters and lens hoods

With a hybrid White Mist filter, checking the thread diameter alone is not enough. The clearance inside the lens hood is also important because some hoods fit very tightly.

This is not a filter defect. Compatibility depends on the design of the specific lens and lens hood and on the available clearance around the filter.

With the hybrid system, the safest approach is always to test the specific combination of lens, filter and lens hood.

The VFFOTO hybrid filter is not compatible with the original lens cap supplied by the lens manufacturer. To protect the lens safely while the hybrid White Mist filter is attached, use a compatible VFFOTO 95 mm magnetic protective cap with grip.

Technologie VFFOTO NanoShield představuje pokročilou high-tech úpravu foto filtrů pomocí ultra tenkých nano vrstev, které výrazně omezují ulpívání vody, mastnoty i běžných nečistot. Technologie VFFOTO GlareShield Pro 16 představuje pokročilý systém 16 špičkových antireflexních vrstev — 8 z každé strany filtru — navržený pro maximální eliminaci nežádoucích odlesků a ztráty kontrastu při fotografování. Každá antireflexní vrstva je aplikována na optické sklo ve vakuových komorách pomocí vysoce přesné depoziční technologie magnetronového naprašování.
