The filter can be used as a conventional screw-in ND filter or as part of the VFFOTO magnetic system. Screw-in use keeps the overall assembly lower, while magnetic use enables fast filter changes.

A visible difference with an ND 64× filter.

An ND filter does not reduce reflections in the same way as a CPL filter. Its main purpose is to extend the exposure time and change how motion is rendered.

Spectral characteristics

Balanced transmission across the visible spectrum.

An ND filter reduces the amount of light reaching the sensor. It is important that transmission remains as even as possible across the visible spectrum.

What does the graph show?
The graph shows light transmission across the spectrum. For photography, the transmission curve should be as even as possible throughout the visible range.

Why is this important?
The flatter the curve across the visible spectrum, the smaller the filter’s colour shift and the closer the colours remain to those of the photographed scene.

NANO-PRO anti-reflective coating

Lower glass-surface reflectivity

The anti-reflective coating on both sides of the optical glass reduces the amount of light reflected from the filter surface. This helps limit unwanted reflections and multiple reflections between optical surfaces.

Technical clarification: the anti-reflective coating reduces reflections caused by the filter itself. It does not remove reflections from water, glass or painted surfaces within the photographed scene.

With a hybrid ND filter, checking the thread diameter alone is not enough. The clearance inside the lens hood is also important, as some hoods have a very tight design.

With a hybrid system, the safest approach is always to check the specific combination of lens, filter and lens hood in practice.

The VFFOTO hybrid filter is not compatible with the lens manufacturer’s original lens cap. To protect the lens safely while the hybrid ND filter is attached, use the compatible VFFOTO 67 mm magnetic protective cap with grip.

Technologie VFFOTO NanoShield představuje pokročilou high-tech úpravu foto filtrů pomocí ultra tenkých nano vrstev, které výrazně omezují ulpívání vody, mastnoty i běžných nečistot. VFFOTO GlareShield Core 12 je základní verze multicoatingové technologie navržená pro omezení nežádoucích odlesků a zlepšení celkové čistoty obrazu. Technologie využívá 12 antireflexních vrstev — 6 vrstev z každé strany filtru — které pomáhají snižovat odlesky a podporují vyšší kontrast i přirozenější podání barev.

Jednotlivé coatingové vrstvy jsou aplikovány na optické sklo pomocí přesných vakuových procesů, které zajišťují rovnoměrné nanesení ultra tenkých antireflexních vrstev v řádu nanometrů.
