Compared with the 1/8 version, it scatters bright highlights more strongly and reduces contrast more visibly while remaining versatile. It is ideal for portraits, weddings, video, city scenes and night photography.

Difference between filter types
White Mist or Black Mist?
Both filters soften highlights, but the resulting character is different. Compare White Mist and Black Mist at the same strength of 1/8, 1/4 or 1/2.
Compared with the 1/8 strength, at 1/4 the difference between the higher-contrast rendering of Black Mist and the whiter veil of White Mist is more noticeable.
Choosing the strength
White Mist 1/4 is the balanced option.
Compared with the 1/8 version, the 1/4 strength creates a more noticeable milky veil, scatters bright highlights more strongly and reduces contrast more visibly. At the same time, it remains more versatile than the 1/2 version and is well suited to portraits, video and atmospheric night scenes.

When to use the filter
For photography and video.
The 1/4 strength provides a balanced diffusion effect with noticeable highlight bloom and a subtle milky veil. It is suitable for creative and stylised image-making as well as a wide range of everyday uses.
Portraits and weddings
Noticeable yet natural softening of skin and highlights for an airy, dreamlike look.
Video and film
It reduces a harsh digital look, lowers contrast and gives the footage a soft, dreamlike character.
Night city scenes

The filter changes the character of the image as you shoot or film. The strength of the effect depends on the filter strength, scene contrast and the presence of prominent light sources. Higher strengths, particularly 1/2, can produce a very pronounced effect when shooting at night or into the light.

VFFOTO hybrid system
A screw-in and magnetic filter in one.
The filter can be screwed directly into the lens thread or attached magnetically to an adapter or another compatible VFFOTO filter.
The front magnetic surface allows another VFFOTO hybrid or magnetic filter of the same diameter to be attached. White Mist can be combined with a CPL, ND or variable ND filter, for example. When stacking several filters, always check wide-angle lenses for vignetting.
NANO-PRO quality
A controlled effect without unnecessary loss of quality.
The filter is designed to create a controlled diffusion effect, retain natural colour rendition and minimise the loss of fine detail.
Premium optical glass It helps retain fine detail and natural colour rendition even when microcontrast is deliberately reduced.
Multiple anti-reflective coatings They reduce unwanted reflections from the glass surfaces and help keep the image clean.
Durable nanocoatings They reduce the adhesion of water, grease and dirt and make routine filter cleaning easier.

Compatibility
Hybrid White Mist filters and lens hoods
With a hybrid White Mist filter, checking the thread diameter alone is not enough. The clearance inside the lens hood is also important because some hoods fit very tightly.
Enough clearance
If there is sufficient clearance around the filter, the hybrid White Mist filter can be used normally.
Tight lens hoods
With some lenses, the hood may come into contact with the enlarged outer diameter of the hybrid frame.
Check the actual combination
This is not a filter defect. Compatibility depends on the design of the specific lens and lens hood and on the available clearance around the filter.
With the hybrid system, the safest approach is always to test the specific combination of lens, filter and lens hood.
Important notice
Protecting the lens with a hybrid filter attached.
The VFFOTO hybrid filter is not compatible with the original lens cap supplied by the lens manufacturer. To protect the lens safely while the hybrid White Mist filter is attached, use a compatible VFFOTO 95 mm magnetic protective cap with grip.
